Very quiet morning in the New York markets as there is no news and many of the Gold market movers are up at the LBMA conference in Montreal.
The news that is still front and center stage remains the Greek
situation. The Euro zone troubles will continue to support this market
into the future. However with lack of players in the market it seems to
be coming under some pressure. Choppiness and thin volumes equal
volatility. Meanwhile one interesting factor is that Open Interest for
the CME gold contract was down 54.7% last week clearly a sign that both
longs and shorts were bailing out during the times of weakness. Today’s
NAHB Index is not considered to be of major importance. The market is
more concerned with what the Federal Reserve will announce this
Wednesday.
