I sometimes wonder what methods are
used to forecast jobs numbers and I’m perplexed as to how often and how
significantly those forecasts can miss the mark. May jobs numbers came
in at a disappointing 69,000…that’s 81,000 below economist
forecasts (unemployment is up to 8.2%). To make matters worse, the
April jobs numbers were revised to 77,000 from 115,000 and even March
numbers were 11,000 to high. I was going to throw in the fact that
Student-loan debt is up some 275% in the last decade
but one can only take so much “doom and gloom”. The U.S. 10-year not
proceeded to fall below 1.50% (now at 1.484%) and equities got thumped
following the release of the jobs data. The yellow metal is up nearly
3% and climbing while sliver is up 2.35%. Have
a good weekend!
